Utilizing pure ceramic as a coating, the Green Ceramic Wok by Ozeri achieves non-stick perfection while remaining absolutely free of PTFE, PFAS and GenX chemicals (APEO, PFBS, PFOS, PFOA). Conventional cookware and other ceramic cookware brands achieve their non-stick performance through a coating of PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene), a synthetic substance that has waxy properties. At very high temperatures, PTFE can begin to decompose and release fumes which are documented to be lethal to birds and small pets, and which can be harmful to humans. Although acids PFOA and PFOS have been generally phased out of cookware production as persistent pollutants, non-stick coatings today are often made with the aid of a new generation of advanced fluoropolymers, known as GenX fluorinated chemicals and PFBS. Data from research on these chemicals shows that they are suggestive of cancer and when orally consumed, these chemicals may be harmful to health. The Green Ceramic Wok's 100% ceramic coating is completely free of PTFE, PFAS and GenX fluoropolymers. In addition to being eco-friendly and ultra-safe, the Green Ceramic Wok's ceramic coating is far more durable and scratch-resistant than other non-stick surfaces. With exceptional non-stick properties, the Green Ceramic Wok by Ozeri allows you to saute, fry, bake, boil and braise with as little as half the amount of oil normally used, and it makes cleaning a breeze. This is a great wok. In every sense of the word. Pros: Huge! Can easily make food for 10 people. If this is what you want, it's perfect. Pretty - looks classy hanging on the kitchen wall. Quality made - this is well made stuff, and for the quality, isn't too heavy. Easy to clean - it won't fit in any dishwasher, but is so non-stick, it's super easy to wash by hand in seconds. Comes with a felt inlay for stacking other pots inside it. Cons: Huge! You will need a double burner on a gas stove to get enough heat into it for cooking. Seriously, huge! There is no way it would fit in any of our single-size cupboards, so we had to fit a wall hook for storage. Hot handle - the main handle stays cool during use, but the second handle next to the bowl area gets very hot indeed, and if you're filling this wok, you will need to use that handle at some point, so be prepared. I love this wok, it's great value for money.
