Class A+D Stereo Amplifier (2 X 90W) bridgeable into a 160 watt Mono Amplifier. STA-6 is designed with enhanced even-order harmonic circuitry that produces sonic characteristic similar to NuPrime STA-9, but leaning toward neutral with a slight hint of warmth. The STA-6's spacious, transparent, dynamic and luxuriously textured soundstage has to be heard to believed. The STA-6 amplifier is derived from the Single End Class A Module + Class D design first introduced in the STA-9. By joining a powerful high impedance singled ended amplifier circuit in the preamp stage with a well integrated Class-D power stage, the STA-6 offers the richness of Class A sound with the remarkable speed and clarity of NuPrime Class-D design. Money's a little tight and I was having a hard time figuring out how I was going to find a decent audiophile stereo amp without buying one older than 25 years of age and needing restoration. My brother owns a pair of STA-9's used as mono blocks and are rather impressive. So, I decided with my measly tax return, to purchase an STA-6 and use in stereo mode to power my, dare I say Sony SSCS5 bookshelf speakers. Needless to say, this amp is a keeper. It literally sounds like a big, beefy power amp. Lots of grunt and oomph when needed. It's neither bright nor dull.. It just sounds fantastic! Vocals, both male and female are perfect. Midrange that's as smooth as butter. Soundstage thats huge and deep. Dead silent background. My vinyl has never sounded better. Happily, the STA-6 upholds that tradition in splendid style. Anyone who categorically dismisses Class D amplification owes it to him or herself to audition the STA-6, which seamlessly unites the body, depth and overall 'dimension' of Class A with the articulation, detail and speed of Class D. I'm currently using a single STA-6 in stereo mode to drive a pair of JBL Studio 590's (world-class loudspeakers, by the way) and the resultant experience is one of pure emotional engagement with the music.
