It only protrudes 2mm or maybe less and the screw threads into which it is supposed to go are a bit farther away.This also means that even with a camera whose tripod socket starts immediately it wouldn't screw in very far, leaving the mounting somewhat incsecure.In the photos the stand is turned so that the screw pokes out as far as possible by gravity.
