Review: Still The Best Leather Conditioner After All These Years - Apple Brand's leather care line is still my favorite, after all these years, so I thought I should take a moment and post a review for their conditioner. First recommended to me by a Franklin Covey representative, far enough in my past to make me feel very old, I have been using this product for almost as many years as Franklin planners. To date, having tried about ten or so of the various cleaners and conditioners out there, I have found that, for basic cleaning, light touch ups and conditioning, the Apple Conditioner, that's right Conditioner, actually works better than anything. For heavier soils, I use their cleaner and occasionally another, but, again, this conditioner works wonders. When buffed gently, with a soft cloth, it cleans. When wiped away and reapplied, buffing gently again, it moisturizes and sinks in. I often leave a thin layer for a half hour or so on difficult leathers that require too much moisture for just one treatment. Of course, this works wonders on my Franklin planner and it has never, ever, harmed anything I've treated with it. For lamb leather, a soft, unfinished leather, I can never get anything to gently clean away bits of discoloration without harming the leather, and so, I go off label and use a tiny amount of this, buffing gently and then wiping away after about ten seconds, on a lamb handbag from about fifteen years ago. I have found that careful application of this product keeps my favorite old bag as clean and supple as it can be, given how heavily I've used it, without ruining the leather. If you need to try this product for an unfinished leather, keep in mind that this product is specifically labeled as NOT to be used on unfinished leathers and remember to try it on a hidden and small spot, to buff gently but quickly and to wipe away after about ten seconds. It will look dark and damaged for a few minutes and then, after about ten, it will have dried to how the leather of your item will look if you treat with this product. **Q: Will this product also clean and condition (all in one)? I have dye stains on a leather purse I would like to clean and want to know if this will work**
A: I doubt it will take out dye stains.  I am not aware of any leather cleaner that you can buy that would remove a dye stain.  (Not that there might not be one, but if there is, I'm just not aware of it.  The Coach-brand leather cleaner seems to have gotten poor reviews for removing stains.)  If the item you want to "clean" is important to you, I suggest you take it to a dry cleaning service who indicates they have leather cleaning capability.  At the end of they day you may not be able to fully "remove" the stain, due to the nature of leather itself (i.e., porous and organic).  At best you may be able to diminish the stain over time.  The problem with a "cleaner" that would take out a dye stain is that will also take out the color dyes (or natural dyes) that are used to treat the leather.  However, if your item is natural leather, then you stand a good chance of diminishing the appearance of the dye stain by applying a very thin dilution of hydrogen peroxide to the area (i.e., wet a cotton cloth with water, then wet the cloth with the peroxide, then lightly rub the wetted area of the cloth on the stained area of the leather).  (You can get a small bottle of peroxide at your local drug store.)  Afterwards treat the area with a leather cream (e.g., "Buffalo Butter" - see http://www.trask.com/fall-preview/buffalo-butter/03200050.html) to restore the natural finish to the leather.  It may take a week of two for the leather cream to work into the treated area, and may require two or more applications.  (Use a cotton cloth to work the leather cream into the treated area.)  Also, I would advise against using any kind of solvent (e.g., acetone, denatured alcohol, etc.) to try to remove the stain, as solvent does not oxidize the stain, but rather dissolves the natural oils that you want to keep in the leather.  Well, I'm sure this is much more than you wanted to hear, but figured you might benefit from my own experiences in removing stains from leather.

**Q: Would this work on suede?**
A: Says do not use on suede in bold letters

**Q: can this be used on synthetic material as well?**
A: I clean Louis Vuitton coated canvas, warks very well.

**Q: “Is this good for a pink goat hide leather-cow hide from fossil?**
A: This product does not cause coloring, so should be no problem on natural leather either goat or cow hide. I would try on a small/inside part first anyway.
