I added the cord into bushing before inserting the cord/bushing into the metal back of appliance, this is only possible if you have this tool, too difficult otherwise. I wiggled the cord & bushing into place while holding it w/ the pliers. Once I let go, everything expanded a bit so it stayed in place as expected. I had a short at the bushing location from being tugged on one too many times. I opened the appliance, took pics for reference, disconnected all wires, cut cord 6" shorter, reattached all wires, added the bushing, closed-up appliance and voila! This heater was a gift many years ago, so pleased I could give it an even longer life. Review: just ok. - These are a lot cheaper than other strain relief pliers.
