I used to use vinyl weights but always struggled to get a decent lift as it's impossible to get a heavy load using vinyl. Iron is strong, heavy, it's not going to break or perish and you're going to wish you'd started using iron plates much sooner. I now spend less time loading up the bar and more time lifting. These are perfect for challenging yourself with any barbell lifting. Just make sure you've got a strong enough bench and bar!!
