Please kindly know before ordering. NC means Normally Closed:When the magnet together, the circuit is conductive( light on ); when the magnet separate, the circuit is not conductive ( light off ). Door Magnetic Installation Instructions The Door and window magnets should be installed at the door and the top of the window. The permanent magnet part is installed on the movable door and window. I broke the first two as I tried to get it into position, but the third one worked great. I buried a tiny neodymium magnet inside the bristles of a TINY broom and now when she moves it to a particular corner of the room the lights turn on. The reed in these switches have to be sensitive enough to move from the field from the little ~1/8" magnet through 1/8" of plywood and a little additional gap from the placement inside the broom. I fried a couple by supplying too much amperage but was able to arrange a couple in parallel and make it work. The magnet is very sensitive and maybe a little weak.
