The pair i just received is consistence with all of the previous pairs I've bought. These have always been my primary shows -- not reserved for special occasions and I have walked more miles in these shoes than most people have walked miles. I have never (prematurely) worn a hole in the sole of any of them. I have never had the top stitching fail, although if rubbed against the desk or office chair a lot, I expect it would. These are not "normal shoes." They have a life of their own that they will share with you, for years, if you treat them right. When you get them, polish them with a good paste polish. But wear some other shoes when you go fishing. :) Revised 5-28-2019: After wearing these shoes for over 6 months they honestly look and feel better than when they were new. I can't believe some of the reviews. They must be working for a competitor of something. These are very good shoes. Florsheim is best IMO, which is why I have worn them for decades.
