This gown is simply a piece of unfinished, thin, cotton fabric. It is definitely NOT a $30+ piece of clothing. BUT.. don't think about it as a piece of a clothing. Think about it as something comfortable, accessible, modest, and (kind of) pretty to give birth in. Once you think about spending $30+ not on the gown itself but on the results you'll GET out of wearing this gown, then it is much more worth it.I received this item at 31 weeks pregnant and 170lb. Pre-pregnancy I'm a size 6, and I gained about 30lb at this point. This gown fits very well and goes just below the knees. The openings do expose skin on your belly and pelvis, but it still keeps things pretty covered. I'm the kind of person that likes to wear feminine skirts, dresses, and my style is classy business casual on most days. So the thought of wearing a hospital gown or being nude just didn't sit right with me. This gown feels like you're wearing a little dress! It easily opens for accessible skin-to-skin contact and feeding, epidurals, and fetal monitoring on the belly.Yes, it's a pretty cheap material and look, and it's not super flattering. But it's MEANT to get full of bodily fluids during labor afterall, in yet it still is cute in its own way! I am really looking forward to wearing this and it gives me reassurance that I will feel more comfortable with a modest amount of class and dignity while in labor. First, i will say that "disposable" is a silly description because anything is "disposable" if you are willing to spend X dollars on something you will only use once and then throw out. I purchased 3 possible delivery gowns and compare them here. All three fit me fine.BG Birthing Gown (Blueberry Pie):- most attractive, both in terms of style and fabric.-i liked the extra coverage up top.-velcro on each shoulder so that it can be undone to breastfeed.-wrap style-opens in the *back* but not in the front. Would be good for epidural but not so good for the baby monitor that goes on your belly. Only 2 stars for this reason.Labor Gown by Baby Be Mine (Luscious Pink):-I liked the extra coverage up top. Fabric is unattractive.-metal snaps on each shoulder so that it can be undone to breastfeed. I read another review of some gown (can't remember which one) in which a reviewer noted that the hospital would not let her wear it because of metal snaps as they could interfere with some hospital procedure/equipment. But I do not have any experience in that area.-wrap style- opens in the front, but not the back. Thus would provide easy access for baby monitor equipment but not an epidural. Only 2 stars for this reason.Pretty Pushers 100% Cotton Disposable Labor & Delivery Gown (2-16 Pre-Pregnancy, Green):-cheap looking fabric- do not like the style of the top. Does not provide support and my bra straps (needed due to the lack of support) definitely will show. Only 3 stars for this reason.-ties around the neck, and the ties can be untied for breastfeeding or to undress.- has a low back with a tie. this will allow untying for an epidural- has a slit in the tummy with ties to hold it shut, to allow for the baby monitor. Slit goes a little too low in the front.In all, I will be keeping the Pretty Pushers and sending the other two back. It just provides much better access for medical personnel, even though I really don't like the style. I plan on bringing a sweater or sweatshirt to wear over it though (I am always cold, but if I ran warm I'd still want a lightweight open front shirt to wear). All the edges are raw, they didn’t even run it through a serger.
