Not a lot of review when I bought this one. I was thinking about making something like this but using a mega 2560 Arduino and display to mess around with. and came across this. I have used Arduino IDE to program Arduino boards, First time using the ESP32- S3 board. short answer, yes it works. Longer answer it took 2 days of learning. I always figure that half the cost of hardware goes to education, and this taught a lot.So now I have a Development Kit/module to try different programming things. It comes with a lot of sketches to play with. To start off I had a hard time getting a sketch to compile then more time to get it to load. I feel the pain of the other poster who could only get some sketch to work. I had the same problems, Until I finely got the Arduino IDE setup right. all the sketches seem to work now. Freenove documentation has to be down loaded, all the information is there but read it close. I set some of the setting with names that looked close, I was not paying enough attention. They show pull down menus you need to make sure all the lines match your settings.When I got the kit and after some assy and power on. It had a power up screen that gave me a good feeling the unit was working, and after the first try to load a sketch it all went away. Now all is good.You can go to the freenove site and look at the tutorial doc.

I’ve had this kit for about a week and recommend it.I did have an issue getting the kit to work on my M1 MBP which required installing an updated driver. Wasn’t obvious from the docs but I was able to figure it out.I also had an issue getting the samples to work but support was able to assist and was highly responsive (within 12 hours).Just a warning when installing the ESP32 library. I had to install 2.0.5 to get the samples to work. The seller says the kit should work with 2.0.4, 2.0.7, and 2.0.15 but oddly I could not get them to work without compiler errors popping up.This is a great little kit for experimenting with ideas. I do wish it had a little bread board linked to it for adding other components like humidity / temp / barometer sensor or gas sensor. For the cost this is great.

Cool but I can’t get lvgl on it

I have purchased several items from Freenove and I am quite satisfied with the quality of their products. The esp32-s3 package is great. A simple gui that provides a camera, mp3 player, photo viewer and a heart rate monitor. Setup is easy and the projects worked every time. I recommend this kit to beginners especially but everyone should enjoy its capabilities. 4.7 to 4.8 rating overall for Freenove and its products.

Great quality, nice shipping, fast and concise reply about setup.I would say this is a step up from an Arduino basic kit, this time you are putting it all together. Setting it up was a little confusing, but after this was a fun project.

So hard to follow the setup, installed Arduino IDE then realised the library files once installed should not be updated and had to reinstall everything and make sure nothing got update even a single updated file or added library upset compiling. Only managed to get the heart rate monitor working which is the only thing running. trying to flash on the multifunction apps displayed in the demo has failed multiple times. Will try again another weekend when i have more time to program.

I had two different issues. Both times they replied email with the perfect solution. I'm happy with the product and happier with the service!😀

This is a great way to get into programing and understanding how arduino components work hands on.
