## Description

Extend your USB 1.0/1.1 connections effortlessly with the Monoprice USB Extender over Cat5e or Cat6. This ingenious adapter opens new possibilities, allowing you to stretch USB signals to distances up to an impressive 150 feet, a significant leap compared to the standard USB cable's limitations. Designed with user-friendliness in mind, the adapter works seamlessly by converting USB signals into a format suitable for transmission through Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cables. At the receiving end, the signals are effortlessly reassembled into a standard USB output, delivering uninterrupted connectivity. The best part? No external power source is required, as the adapter draws all necessary power directly from the USB bus. With universal compatibility, it works flawlessly with various USB-equipped devices, including computers, game consoles, cameras, printers, keyboards, and mice. Please bear in mind that this adapter supports USB 1.0/1.1 speeds exclusively, and it is not compatible with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 speeds. To optimize performance, it is recommended to utilize shielded Cat6 cabling, ensuring a reliable and efficient extension of your USB connections. Enhance your setup and experience the freedom of extended USB connectivity like never before.

Review: Perfect solution if your setup prevents you from connecting to personal network printers. - These USB extenders work exactly as advertised. My printer is about 150 feet away from my desk, and my work laptop is locked down so it can no longer connect to any outside network, which meant I had to physically move my laptop next to the printer and connect a USB cable every time I needed something printed. To solve this, I ran Ethernet from my desk to the printer and used these Monoprice USB Extenders. They performed flawlessly when connected directly via Ethernet. I did hope to use my existing network switch, but unfortunately, the extenders didn’t work with that setup. However, I won’t deduct any points for that, as they have completely transformed my printing experience. Now I can print without having to move my laptop! Highly recommended!
Review: Extend USB 2.0 50 feet - I initially bought this to run my HTC Vive VR Headset from my PC in the bedroom to my larger living room. The single USB 2.0 cable with a built in repeater I was using would cause tracking issues due to the signal dropping sometimes. This problem persisted whether I used a USB hub or connected the headset straight to the PC via the USB 2.0 cable. When I replaced it with this set and a CAT6 cable, the signal was consistent and USB based issues were resolved. Or so I had thought. After a few weeks I realized the camera on the Vive had stopped working (it is only occasionally useful, so I didn't realize it had stopped working). Tracking still wasn't an issue, just the camera. I have since replaced this extender with a USB 3.0 cable and the camera now responds and tracking is reliable. I don't believe the camera's loss of functionality was a fault of these extenders. The Vive is notoriously picky about USB ports and cables, and I believe the device simply needed the extra band-width of the USB 3.0 cable. I now use this extender set to run a USB 2.0 hub from my PC to my living room. It is working perfectly.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has any one tried this for usb 3.0 equipment?**
A: from monoprice's website:
"Note that this adapter supports USB 1.0/1.1 speeds only. It is not compatible with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 speeds. For best results, use shielded Cat6 cabling."

**Q: looking to power a Wyse camera, no data just power. Will this work?**
A: Why?? For just power, any USB dongle / charger / power wart and any USB extension cable will do. If you have PoE, use any PoE extractor with the appropriate voltage and a USB-A female (or adapter to get that.)

**Q: Does this work with ps4, xbox one, etc. controllers? Already extend HDMI, need to get controllers (aside from IR) in other rooms.**
A: I bought these and just finished this project. My setup is the following:

ViewHD Advanced Low Profile HDMI Extender
Qty 2 Tripp Lite Cat6 Gigabit Solid Conductor Snagless
These monoprice usb extensions.

I have the signal being split and then cloned over the solid core cat6 about 35 feet away. Solid core cat6 is the ONLY suggestion i would give. Skip the flat fancy looking cables. Run this cable and dont care about its color. Get the one that supports the POE as you can put the adapter right on back of tv using command strips no extra power cord needed at Rx end.

Second, I plugged the monoprice usb into my xbox and then ran it about 45 ft using the cat6 cable and tested with a 10ft and 6ft braided usb cable. When i did the dry run test it worked flawlessly so I decided to do the full run as seeing the controller fired up and worked. ALWAYS TEST BEFORE RUNNING YOUR SETUP!!

The results? WELL....My testing didnt conclude the following...it works 95% great when vibration is turned off, with vibration turned on I think it sucks too much juice and causes the controller to "freeze" and disconnect on both usb cables i tried. I cant explain it otherwise because Ill turn off vibration and I can game on titanfall2 for 30-40 minutrs and then a random disconnect.

So in the short, im going to test and see if its the controller /batteries next...otherwise Im not sure if I need to add in a POE injector midway.

Hope this helps, and if monoprice has any further input on my situation they can contact me.

I will tell you that Im a closet mcguyver that tried to do the best homework I could and so far this is the only hiccup i have. Audio caries through on the new setup too from the controller...its just bittersweet because streaming to my hardwired laptop had the same problems...lag, stutter and random controller disconnects.

Oh, and my xb1 is cat6 hardwired.

**Q: Can I use this product to connect a wireless router (CAT6) to PC (CAT6 / USB Extender) if PC is hardwired to distant modem?**
A: Probably not. This product is intended to extend a USB connection, not extend a network connection. BTW, it will not work for USB2 or USB3 connections.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Extend USB 2.0 50 feet

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works as advertised!
*by M***O on September 25, 2010*

I needed a long USB cable to connect a USB flash drive on the other side of the wall to a TV, but couldn't find any longer than 15 feet. So, I tried this product with a standard 25-foot CAT6 network cable between the two adapters, and it worked well! Worked with a USB wireless network adapter and USB flashlight, too. PROS: (1) Together with a network cable, it allowed me to get the USB cable length that I needed; (2) Worked as advertised for 25 feet (vendor says that it supports up to 150 feet); (3) Required cable is a standard network cable, instead of some proprietary product. CON: Supports USB 1.x, not any devices requiring USB 2.x or 3.x support. If this product worked with USB 1.x, 2.x, and 3.x, I would have given it 5 stars. Until I find a product that supports USB 2.x and 3.x, too, I would definitely purchase this product again when I need a long USB cable.
