The Maitlands (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) are a happy couple who, when killed in a car crash, return as ghosts to their beloved home to wreak havoc on the ghastly yuppie family who have moved in. A long time favourite along with some other well known horror comedy flicks! Despite the 4K having identical extras to the blu ray the rest is a complete overhaul! I'll start with the Atmos effects which add more depth over the DTS surround. Echoes and additional voice at beight add to the scale of scenes and it is a lot of fun. The fly scene will genuinely have you looking over your shoulders and around the room! The next welcome upgrade is grain , it's there but now fine grain allowing the films details to really become noticeable! The biggest upgrade is colour palette, things look so much more nicer! Skin tones no longer look orange pink , while the films wider colour and deeper blacks really add contrast to the picture Colours overall look vibrant and tonal changes along with textures in clothing are much more noticeable. The warm glows on faces during certain scenes adds focus on the character and the film no longer has that slight fuzzy over saturated at times look it had before. The HDR effects are subtle but you notice it when it's needed most and it all adds to what I feel is a worthy upgrade over blu ray! On a side note , adding Dolby vision wouldn't effect this film greatly due to it's fairly dark interior shots as most of the film takes place indoors and as mentioned the new colour grading suits this movie perfectly! Review: Beetlejuice 4K - Beetlejuice is one of Tim Burtons finest movies and still holds up over 30 years later, Funny and likable characters such as Adam and Barbara Maitland, Lydia Deetz and Beetlejuice himself. The stop-motion in this film is impressive by 1988's standards. Especially for the snake and sandworm.
