It is not held in to the spinning head and can be easily damaged or lost, especially if the head's retaining cap self destructs from normal wear and tear.When I installed a new replacement, my Grasshog started working wonderfully again. I was glad to find that the replacement could be purchased on Amazon.My only complaint is against Black & Decker. IMO this vital small inexpensive wear part should be included with the replacement retaining caps sold, even if the price of the retaining cap needs to be increased.
