Review: These strings sound and play great - Use for Nashville Tuning - Excellent set of special gauge strings. Fit these onto your 6 string Acoustic Guitar to give a 12 string sound. Why? This is called 'Nashville Tuning', and is used by many session players in recording studios to double track a guitar part. I guess it started out in Nashville and the name stuck. Try it out when double tracking an acoustic guitar part in the recording studio. Pan a std stringed guitar to the right and this Nashville stringed guitar to the left for example. Or if playing live, then 2x players play the same parts, with one of them on a 'Nashville stringed' guitar. It sounds awesome. The 1st & 2nd strings are standard, while the 3rd 4th 5th & 6th Strings are taken from a 12 string guitar set. They are thin and tune an Octave Up from standard 6 string guitar tuning. These strings sound and play great on my 47 year old Yamaha acoustic guitar!
Review: I've always liked D'Addario strings and these are as good as all ... - I've always liked D'Addario strings and these are as good as all the other sets I've used. Phospher Bronze is not quite as bright sounding which works well with Nashville stringing, stopping the sound being too trebly. Lower cost D'Addarios don't stay bright as long as their premium range strings, but they are cheap enough to replace often. My first go at trying Nashville stringing, although I'd known about it for years. Works pretty well for recording. You get a nice clear rhythm sound with none of the 'boom' you get when strung conventionally. Doubling with a regular strung acoustic does give a 12 string sound with the benefit that you can balance the two better. One thing to note. If you're planning on trying it, you will have to either replace the top nut or use the old baking powder and superglue trick to narrow (and possibly raise) the low E to G nut slots. It's also likely that the intonation will be slightly out higher up the neck unless you fiddle with the bridge saddle. For 'cowboy chord' positions, it's close enough.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: So does this come with all 6 strings? Im completely new to guitars.**
A: Yes, this is a full set.Specifically this is a set of 3. If you want just one select the 1 pack. (I tried to include a link but Amazon defaults it to the 3 pack for some reason)It is possible to look up and find individual strings, but honestly that ends up being more difficult in my opinion and for the cost you might as well grab a set.I am fairly new to guitars as well, so let me just take a moment to say these strings are highly recommended. Great choice.

**Q: Have a EJ200 Epiphone. Would like to replace strings. What type of D'Addario strings do I use?**
A: I have a 45 year old Martin d-28 I use the extra light strings EJ 15 3 Dbecause I like to fingerpickthey have a very good warm soundif your guitar is fairly new try the light gauge strings they sound very good too and you can buy 3 packs for under $15 at Amazon. D'Addario makes a good string and I find they last a long time. I highly recommend!

**Q: I bought these for my son and the first two strings broke when he was putting them on. We are on the third set in twenty minutes**
A: When you put on a string, you have to allow enough slack for the string to coil around the tuner post. Feed the string through and leave enough slack so you can pull the string about 4 inches above the fret board and then slowly wind it up and as it tightens, pause once in a while let the string stretch. Some strings can take a day to stretch, some don't. Be patient. Good luck...but if you don't leave slack for coiling strings will break.

**Q: What 0.10-0.27 means? what is high strung tuning? is it a regular string set for acoustic guitar? and is this set light, medium or hard? thank you**
A: In “high-strung tuning” (also known as “Nashville tuning”), the bottom four strings are tuned an octave higher than standard tuning, like the second set of strings on a 12-string guitar. The top two strings are pitched to standard tuning. Because the strings are a thin gauge, they are by definition light gauge. A guitar with the higher pitch of Nashville tuning is a good accompaniment to many songs.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent strings...
*by M***N on 7 June 2013*

As a recent convert to having a 6-string guitar high-strung, these are my first actual set of strings bought for this purpose - previously I'd looked up the relevant gauges and made a set from individual strings, keeping the G string low. I went for D'Addario because I'd already had a great experience with a their acoustic strings on my 12-string. When these arrived I thought I'd try out the high G that came with the set, but it broke while I was tuning it. No matter, as I wanted to continue recording something on which I'd used a low G previously. The other five strings have lived up to expectations and have that lovely characteristic D'Addario sound which I'm starting to love. One less star for the broken G (it would have been nice to have at least had the option of trying it), but overall very happy.
