The icemaker is a separate unit. This item is a perfect fit and was overall a perfect replacement for our old one. Due to some hard use from the previous owner, the original bucket unit was damaged. The white plastic inside was broken, probably from something that got caught in the dispenser/crusher. Metal dispenser/crusher plus plastic housing = easily damaged. That's a bad design, and there's no choice but to replace with what's available, meaning a new part using the same bad design. The clear plastic paddle had also recently broken on our previous unit. So, we desperately needed this replacement bucket.
