And once in a while, the automatic opens the lid, but you just leave it alone, and it closes automatic too. My relative uses depends and likes to be discreet for good reason. I placed a trash bag in it to serve as a liner, and provided her with small trash bags that I kept in the cupboard for her to use. She wrapped the used depends up in a small trash bag, then placed it in this trash can that I had lined. We emptied the can every morning. Worked perfect! No odor! She thanked me when her time here came to an end and said she felt she was able to be very discreet about her depend use. I did place an air freshener in the little cupboard as well. I’ll definitely do this again for her.
