If you lose this rubber the phone will not hold in place because it slips on the metal. I have superglued the rubber piece to the sprung metal part. You need to be careful not to lose the rubber piece, because without it the phone won't hold in.Upon reflection, the design of the phone mount is poor - it can cost you a lot if your phone falls out because the rubber piece gets lost.Also, the phone mount I received does not resemble the one illusstrated with two mount holes and a back support. The one illustrated looks much more substantial and well-made than the one that I received.
