This light is blindingly bright - not something you want shone in your eyes on a dark night. This is entirely why I bought it - to ward off any potential attackers. Call me paranoid, but I like to play it safe. This light is sturdy, lightweight, and has three modes (full light, strobe, and low light) so that you can use it in many situations. I took it to Cheddar Gorge and it practically lit up the whole cavern. Highly recommended, with the only downside being that the battery life is not overwhelming and the batteries themselves are relatively expensive. Still a great purchase and investment. Review: Bought this to attach to a rifle for home defense as well as use as a hand light. The light itself is fantastic, its distance and cone are both great and reach and incredibly far distance for the size. The rail mount is sturdy and easy to tighten/loosen and remove. The kit also comes with extra button cap, which swaps with the regular toggle switch, for attaching to a rifle that is both a pressure switch and a toggle for the light. The flashlight also has a strobe mode if you're into that. All the mounting materials for the extra switch and the light are in the box, including zip ties among other things. I have a story those those who don't think an LED flashlight can do this.....I do have another light that burned me pretty bad one time. Manker E14: small light unregulated 1000 lumens on high and a copper head to wick heat from the driver. Second degree burn; I had a gnarly blister for a few weeks after that. **Q: If you were standing on the tarmac, would this flashlight illuminate the wings of a Boeing 777 (about 130 feet away and 10 feet elevated)?** A: No. Only B757’s and 767 will illuminate. The 777 has a non reflective coating. **Q: Is the ProTac HL3 made in the USA? The spec chart claims that to be its origin, but other streamlights are imported** A: For a replacement switch try a search using your specific model number. Opticsplanet had one for my Streamlight 88061 ProTac at $5 bucks and it was the entire lower section of the flashlight, not just the switch itself. If you are beyond the warranty or just rather not bother with all the mailing back and forth this is an easy solution. **Q: Does the remote switch come with it?** A: Yes it comes with the remote switch. It's pretty much only way one can get one..as I have the handheld ProTac HL-X and hoped I could throw in a mount and buy the remote switch, but found can't.
