Perfect for using a crimp cover which you can also put on with these. **Q: Do these work well on sterling silver crimp tubes without breaking the tube?** A: Yes, these are the best crimping pliers I have ever found. There is definitely a knack to getting the first stage right which puts the first dent in the flattened tube but these give the best and neatest finish to the crimped tube that I have ever got. **Q: Can these be used for clamshell crimps** A: Not quite sure what you mean but these have a section that will flatten a standard crimp tube with a fold in the centre, you then have a couple choices of indent sizes which then fold over the sides to make a small tubular crimp which then fits in a crimp cover much easier than if you just had a flat squashed crimp. They are great quality, as all Xuron pliers are, but more importantly, they do the job they're intended for. Three size crimp grooves and a substantial folding groove, which completes the task. As well as that, they have a very fine flat nose end, so I find myself using these for my rosary linking as well.
