Review: Great magnifier with storage case and good build quality! - This is great magnifier that comes with a storage/travel case. The quality is really good for the money and the item is a lot larger in person and makes reading and illuminating text a lot easier. The on/off switch is on the inside/underside of the magnifier and has to be switched on after removing the battery connection plastic tab. Don’t pull this tab down hard to remove you should open the door and carefully remove it that way. Once the on switch is flicked you just press the magnifier down to turn it on or off whilst looking through the glass. Excellent product from Satechi. Perhaps the power switch and battery compartment could be a little tougher but you’ll only be touching these very briefly when changing the battery so really they don’t make much impact on the overall use. Apart from that very well made and looks really nice :) Review: Good magnification - Very good magnification ## Features - UP TO 5X MAGNIFICATION – Features a powerful 5X magnification lens, ideal for reading small text or observing details on photos, coins and stamps. - TOUCH LED LIGHT – Equipped with 3 bright LED lights to enhance text or objects in low-light environments, all with a single press on the magnifier. - ON/OFF SWITCH – Comes with an on/off switch to conserve battery and prevent accidently turning on the LED lights. - EASY TO USE – Features a user-friendly design for minimal set up and installation, simply remove the small plastic tag in the battery compartment before use. - CARRYING CASE INCLUDED – Includes a convenient carrying case, a cleaning cloth, 2 lithium-ion batteries and a user manual to protect, power and store your LED ReadMate, plus dedicated customer support. At any given time, there are about half a dozen Amazon sellers of rebranded versions of this, all from the same factory. I've had two from different sellers (lost one, broke one, about to order another – probably this one, as the current best price with the case included). They're all identical other than the branding on them. The magnification is really around 2x to maybe 3x at most. This is still quite helpful, and I love this thing. It's best as a reader placed directly on a book/magazine/whatever surface. Other magnifiers are better held a different distance. It's good to have several different kinds, for different use-cases. **Q: Does this magnifier have a glass or plastic lens** A: Glass and good quality. **Q: Is the body (black cylinder) metal?** A: Yes, the body is a smooth 2 grooved metal finish with a groove above and below the name. **Q: I am looking for a magnifing glass to look at drivers license's, dollar amounts on checks. I want to use this at work as a bank teller would this work** A: Yes, the ReadMate LED Desktop Magnifier can be used to look at drivers license's and dollar amounts on checks. Apart from that very well made and looks really nice :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good magnification *by S***T on 16 December 2025* Very good magnification ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Word / print magnifier. *by D***M on 22 November 2016* A great magnifier, if only the switch and battery compartment were better made. Battery does not make contact unless you put a lot of pressure on the battery case / door.I will look at fixing it properly but I wanted to buy two more for gifts but the quality of the switch and battery compartment lets it down and I don't want to risk giving gifts that don't operate properly. Great size, weight and feel and decent magnification and light. LEDs give a pretty nice and even light, although the LEDs reflect in the glass, but only as very small points so not too distracting. Not worth £20 in my opinion unless the switch and battery compartment are better made. Then it would well be worth £20 and worth 5 stars. ## Frequently Bought Together - Satechi ReadMate LED Desktop Magnifier with up to 5X Magnification - Carrying Case Included (Black) - JMH Magnifying Glass with Light, 30X Handheld Large 18LED Cold and Warm Light with 3 Modes, Illuminated Magnifier for Seniors Reading, Inspection, Coins, Jewelry, Exploring --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pl/products/51586733-satechi-readmate-led-desktop-magnifier-5x-zoom-black](https://www.desertcart.pl/products/51586733-satechi-readmate-led-desktop-magnifier-5x-zoom-black) --- *Product available on Desertcart Poland* *Store origin: PL* *Last updated: 2026-10-10*
