I use carb and brake cleaner; spray it onto the glue and rub/wipe off with a rag. It dissolves the glue even after 24+ hours. I ran out of adhesive after changing my mind and carpeting the ceiling.. At first I thought a couple cheap bottles from homebargains would be the exact same adhesive with different packaging, wrong. It was transparent and easy to pull apart after a test area near where the bulk head was. Decided to go for this and it was superb, exactly the same that came with the carpet (from vandalised) thick, white cobwebby adhesive, grabbed quickly and didn't let go. Recommended. Quick reference for you, 2 bottles did the ceiling of a swb vivaro 250cm x 200cm.
