## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a desiccant type dehumidifier, or a compresser type?**
A: This is a compresser type

**Q: So there's no way to turn off the ionizer feature?**
A: I suspect it only comes into effect when you use the function button to move the function indicator light on to the purify mode I'm curious why would you wan to turn it off , the ionization is most likely a negative ion form so it helps prevent airborne bacterial & mould growth ( Old A level GCE science knowledge)

**Q: Hey Fellow Amazonians! =D
I am looking at this dehumidifier and need some sort of estimated cost maybe per hour/day/month?
Thanks!**
A: To answer this can only be a estimate, this is because humidity level in your area which mode you set ie; how dry you like your environment, How much do you pay for your electricity. When the unit is in fan mode it uses 20 watts (Air sampling or Air purifier) When in dehumidifier mode it will use 318 watts. When the humidity is under control the unit will only dehumidify when the humidity rises above your set mode. When first using any dehumidifier the unit will work harder and long to control your environment. It is estimated in normal use less than a £1.00 a day.

**Q: Is this dehumidifier practical for use in temperatures of around 12 - 15 degrees?**
A: It will be perfect at these temperatures the working temperatures are: 5-35 'C

Great dehumidifier - great all in one machine

*by L***O on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 November 2012*

I took my time reading all the reviews on many de-humidifiers and chose this one over the others. Why? Because of what this thing can do and how it looked. I just kept my fingers crossed when it arrived that it was quiet when and effective at removing moisture from the air. I was not disappointed.Straight away I turned it on and in less than 24hrs it had removed 3 litres of water from my studio flat! I had no idea that was possible! The next 24 hrs prodcued another 3 litres. Emptying the water I found easy and it has a nice little handle on the top. It does seem to get quite full so care does need to be taken when initially sliding it out but I found it no problem at all. After day 3 the humidity sensor then showed it was 50-60% and the machine stopped dehumidifing (as I had it on medium setting). However the fan (the noisiest bit) still keeps going so still makes roughly the same level of noise. The compressor and other parts are very quiet and its only really the fan that you can hear.It is fair to say the fan does make noise, but its a very steady noise. I have it on all night in the same room as I sleep and its very easy to forget its there. It just does its job. The air is noticably cleaner and I'm sure even in the summer this will be usefull as my wife suffers badly from hayfever. Its also nice to have peace of mind that our new born baby is breathing in clean filtered air and this little machine does it all, and bye bye condensation and mould!Had it for a week now, good reliable and nothing to say negatively about this machine. It's a dehumidifier its expected to get some noise from a fan, but I would not change it for the world and if I was to need another dehumidfier I would look for another one of these any day. Its a powerful and efficient unitI shall put updates on here if I do incur problems as test of time is of high importance when considering any purchase, but if nothing comes up, means I'm a happy chappy!

Noisy(ish), but does a great job

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 March 2014*

Moved into a new bungalow just before Christmas that had been vacant for a couple of months. Even after warming the place up over a few weeks, I didn't need a humidity meter to tell me -- although I did check using the cheap one Amazon sells for around £5 -- that there was moisture in the air, most appreciably in the main bedroom and hallway, adjacent to what is in effect a shower room. So I decided to invest in a dehumidifier. There are many on the market and I spent a couple of weeks deciding which model to get. In the end the EcoAir DC202 seemed like a good bet.Initial impressions were impressive. On for eight hours a day (4 hours post morning and evening shower) it pulled litres of water out of the air, roughly needing emptying every 2 or 3 days. After about a week the water collected was less, presumably because the bulk of the moisture had been removed from the fabric of the building and carpets. Now that laminate flooring has been put down throughout the bungalow, I'd say that the EcoAir needs emptying roughly every 4 to 6 days. Now I expected the unit to be a bit noisy, and I realise that noise is subjective, but it's clear from the reviews that some folks find it uncomfortably noisy, while others happily sleep with it on in the same room. Mine's in the hallway and with the bedroom door open I'm very aware of the fan doing its job, but find it quite pleasant in a way. Then again I've always found white / brown noise relaxing. :-) Not sure if I'd want it in the same room as me though. There has never been any adverse smell from this unit, in fact that air feels appreciably "nicer", fresher in every way. And I do mean in the whole bungalow. There is also next to no condensation from the main bedroom, bathroom and kitchen windows, all of which are connected with the doors open 24/7.There's really not much more I can say except: I recommend it.Edit and update: 15th December, 2015The EcoAir DC202 has been working quite happily for nearly 2 years now and is still recommend. However.... after two annual replacements of the filter later (@ around £25 a pop with p&p) I decided that I didn't really need the ioniser / deodoriser features. The DC202 is a heavy beast, albeit with a great 4lt water bucket, and I found it bulky moving between shower room and sun lounge in the winter months, albeit on a flat-floored bungalow.I've encountered two niggles:o It doesn't cope well with low temperatures, entering "defrost" mode far too often in the sun lounge, even when the ambient temperature is way above the 5c operational temperature, and thus it has to warm itself up on the coldest of nights, even mid-way through dehumidifying.o There is no auto on feature.NB: The EcoAir DC202 can be set to turn OFF after 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours, or remain on permanently. In addition you can set it to turn off when the humidity reaches between 40-50%, 50-60% or 60-70%, but it won't turn itself ON automatically, and I'd rather the thing do its job automatically when needed.Because I really wanted a device that would turn itself on and off, based on relative humidity, I recently opted for the EcoAir DD122.

    Good - but not recommended.

*by V***2 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 December 2014*

This review compares the EcoAir DC202 with the De'Longhi DES16E which we have used for over 2 years, and have been very happy with. The De'Longhi solved the downstairs humidity issues, however upstairs was still slightly problematic - especially in Autumn and Spring. The EcoAir appealed to us because of the ionizer. Here is our experience:1) The EcoAir is more effective over a larger area because of the higher air flow.2) The lack of lid is not an issue (for us).3) The combination of the direct-able flap , and the high air flow makes the unit very effective at drying washing.4) While I prefer to dial in the settings of the De'Longhi - the EcoAir's approach (low medium high) works fine.5) The De'Longhi is better where space is an issue (ie. hallways) as it takes the air from the front. The EcoAir needs to be placed far from walls to allow air flow through the back.6) The EcoAir looses two stars for not switching the fan off when the set point has been reached. I think this is an oversight - with the De'Longhi - you can leave it switched on permanently and it will activate itself when required. The EcoAir needs to manually switched on and off if you don't want to use electricity unnecessarily.7) The EcoAir also looses points for the filter. The De'Longhi has a washable filter, while the EcoAir's filter requires changing every 3-6 months.8) The EcoAir is noisier than the De'Longhi, however the De'Longhi has a more mechanical sound. It's a good unit, but for permanent use - the lack of fan switch is a disappointment.
