It introduces children from the age of four to Hunter & Scout who are a pair of playful pups that become Coding Critters friends to them. It is also interactive with all other Coding Critters sets and is an excellent STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning resource. Though I would suggest buying more than just this one set for the best results.It includes a lovely bright 20 page adventure book as well as teaching screen-free coding activities that help them learn without the need for a phone or tablet.Also included are Hunter & Scout plus a dog bone and bowl, plus in the book are tiny tokens that you can remove to use in learning although these are very thin and not as durable as I would’ve liked.They learn aboutfundamental coding skillssequencingdebugginglogictrial and errorPlus every screen-free challenge helps children master early coding without any need for a phone or tablet.Hunter & Scout are able to join in coding fun with Ranger, Zip and the rest of the larger Coding Critters interactive pet sets.It is possible to feed them treats from their included food bowl as well as to dream up new coding adventures that boost critical thinking and other STEM skills.You can also use the magnets in their noses to help them interact with other Coding Critters.Overall I love the idea, however I do think that there is scope for improving this set and the series asa whole. It’s a fantastic starting point but needs development to really help children to learn.I would recommend the set as it is fairly priced and nicely presented and does make a nice gift, though I would suggest aiming it more for a 6 year olds and up due to the small size of the pieces and the fact that at age 4 a child would require significant adult help. There are a lot of characters available and this set is Hunter and Scout. Two little doggies that need help from young minds to complete some coding puzzles. It’s well worth looking at all the other products in the range.The set comes in a blister pack and includes two critters, a dog bowl and a 20-page book. The book is bright and colourful with a range of puzzles that the child needs to work out using simple directions that the critters can follow.The suggested age is 4+ but at that age, they will need some adult help. Once they get the idea then they should be able to work on their own. Even without using the book, the little dogs are fun and cute to play with. However, they are small so there is the danger of choking if not supervised.Overall, fun educational coding critters.
