The icons on the can itself claim it's good for drip style or french press use, both of which require a coarser grind than a pump-style espresso maker. FWIW, I've had good luck with both Café Gaviña and Medaglia D'Oro pre-ground espresso roast coffees, both available here on Amazon. **Q: expire date?** A: I believe the expiration date is on the bottom of the can - my latest batch says 280215 (Feb. 28, 2015).
