This slip resistant foam pad is what holds your sock (compression or regular) on the outside of the very smooth hard plastic channel as you slip your foot in and pull the sock down over your heel, then your ankle and up your calf till the pressure Is enough to cause the sock to slip off the hard plastic channel. Tip: If you wear knee high socks with a strong compression factor (20-30 mmHg), it does require some hand strength to pull it onto the plastic channel.
