Review: We Went Nuts For Donuts - We play a lot of board games and card games in our house. My children (10 and 8, respectively) tend to roll their eyes when I introduce another game to the collection but I know they love it as much as I do. It's a very simple (and TECHNOLOGY FREE) way of spending some quality time together. We love Sushi Go, Adventure Time Love Letter, Machi Koro, Forbidden Island, Zombie Dice and Ticket To Ride, to name but a few. Gamewright always make games with solid, simple mechanics that don't require the flow of gameplay to be constantly interrupted with endless referrals to the rules. Go Nuts For Donuts is no exception. The game itself is very, very simple: each player 'bids' on a lane containing the donut they want. Players who bid identically get nothing. The lanes are periodically refilled with new donuts until the supply runs out and the game is over; some cards have high point values, some cards can be used to influence gameplay. Much like Sushi Go, the trick is to collect a good mix of cards and to not get blocked by other players while doing so (as some cards rely on having the correct number of multiples to score any points at all!). There's a degree of strategy and probability involved and, with a set of adorably illustrated cards, there's plenty to keep everyone occupied for the 20 or 30 minutes it takes to play the game. Go Nuts For Donuts is a good filler or warm-up game and, if approached like that, is well worth the money. We're yet to play it with more than three players (Mum doesn't play games) so I can't comment on the gameplay with that many players. Highly recommended.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a bit easy/babyish for a 13 year old and a 10 year old? they love card games like exploding kittens/unstable unicorns/gubs. thanks**
A: I wouldn’t particularly describe it as babyish: I’m 49 and I really enjoy playing it with my children (10 and 13) but it is a light game with incredibly cute artwork. For anyone who enjoys Unstable Unicorns, Exploding Kittens or GUBS where there is a degree of strategy and “Got You Back” retaliation though, I probably wouldn’t recommend it. It’s just a game of scoring points by collecting cute donuts.

**Q: We already have sushi go, is it still worth getting this or is it very similar?**
A: We have both games, and probably play Go Nuts game more. Whilst both you are collecting cards, with Go Sushi you are passing your hand on; with Go Nuts the card selection is in front of you and you bid on the card you want. If someone else wants the same card as you it gets discarded. With Go Sushi you play three rounds, but Go Nuts is one round. There are more actions cards with Go Nuts, but like Go Sushi you might need to collect a certain amount to get more points. These games do have their similarities, but are different enough in their own right, and both great games.

**Q: Would this be suitable for adults only to play or is it more for children? Thanks**
A: Anyone can play - we play as a family of 4 but suitable for either as long as you’re competitive!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great family game

Absolutely amazing family game to play, it gets everyone involved, doesn’t take too long to play, easy to teach the children.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Do go nuts for GONUTS for DONUTS! Great family fun!
*by L***R on 5 April 2018*

This is another fantastic Gamewright game. We bought it having loved Rat-a-tat-cat. and have not been disappointed by gonuts for donuts either. Whilst it says that the games is suitable from 8 years, my six year old loves playing it (so long as it's not with her ultra competitive sister). My 12 year old thinks this is the best game ever. It is more fun the more players you have, so where as my six year old is happy playing it with two players, my 12 year old would rather play with as many as possible. You do need to be a bit strategic and think about the values of the cards, but it's easy to understand and you pick it up quickly.
