The product is like a pair of 60 denier tights so will cover thread veins. Now what i do is use Laura Geller Balance and Brighten (a powdered pressed foundation applied with a brush, medium colour) and apply on top of the Coverderm to make more natural. So to answer your question pick closest to your skin tone as the product is thick and matt enough to cover the bruises. Then apply a bronzing powder to make more natural.
