Review: These are what youre looking for. - Returned some highly rated lidded ones that were an unmitigated disaster. Yes, something simple like an ice cube tray. Went by the rating and the ratings have let me down yet again. The "food safe rubber" smelled like cheap floor mats, and since when are lids needed on ice cube trays? They caused more problems than helped. I digress. These are nice. No weird cheap rubber smell, first batch came out clean and perfect. Yes, its the simple things. But also, they are more sturdy then the ones so they dont buckle at all when carrying them full of water to the freezer. I think people that are ignoring the fact that if they are truly food grade, you dont want odd smells/odors leeching into you ice and freezer. These do just the opposite of the cheap Chinese crap ones we just got rid of. 5 stars is reserved for quality products.

Not a problem if you use them in a week or two, but even the cleanest freezer will rub off on ice cubes after about a month of sitting around. Speaking of which, these do not sublimate noticeably. Generally, ice cubes shrink in the freezer due to the defrost cycle taking a little off the top when it warms up above freezing. Given the size of these, I find they last a long while. Best to get to sipping whiskey so that is not a problem. I hear good peated Scotch is best. Allegedly.

**Q: Can they be used in the oven to make square mini cakes?**
A: Ignore the other comment, silicone is actually oven safe. As for these particular molds, I am not sure. According to a quick google search silicone is oven safe up to about 375F. I would contact the company or look for specific oven safe molds before using these in your oven. :)

**Q: Are these 1/2 cup capacity? What are the dimensions?**
A: The capacity is just under 1/2 cup, each cavity can hold 3.5 fluid ounces. The dimensions of the cube cavities are 1.875 inches.

**Q: tops i purchased these before and this time they did not include a cover for the tray....any reason for this and where can I get the tops???**
A: I didn't receive covers for my trays.

Give at least 24 hours to freeze, maybe a full 48 hours if you set your freezer temperature high or have it packed full of stuff.
