No need for it to go into the oven; it’s for cutting pies etc after baking. **Q: Is this oven safe?** A: It is made to cut finished pies. It’s metal, but I don’t know why you would want to put it in the oven. **Q: Does it work for an 8" pie?** A: Yes it will work in a 8 in pie pan. **Q: Will this work in a 9inch pie pan?** A: It should. I know it will fit but you may need to finish the cut with a knife to the edges. The length of the blade is just over 7” but it is graduated after that point to almost 9”. The others I tested are made so that unless your pie or cheesecake comes totally up to the top of the pie pan, the cutter blade will not even touch the surface to mark it. Due to the blade design on this cutter, the blades WILL fit down into the pie area even if the top surface is well below the lip of the pie pan.
