Water has impurities, even distilled and/or boiled water, and these impurities are what causes the cloudiness. If want clear ice you need something that holds a longer ice cube than you need then insulate all the sides except the top. As the water freezes it will freeze from the top down and push the impurities to the bottom. When the ice is done freezing the impurities will be concentrated at the bottom. Now you use a chisel to cleave off the impure bottom. That is the only way you are going to get clear ice. **Q: Can you bake these in the oven? Microwave? Is there a maximum temperature allowed?** A: Great question... We have heard that you can cook meatballs and cupcakes in the round ones that we sell with oven temps up to about 450 degrees or so but we do not advertise it... They are made of the same material that Silicone Cupcake Liners are made of so they should be fine but no promises. We have not read from our manufacturer anything about using them in the microwave, so we cannot give any solid information on that. **Q: what is the liquid oz. capacity of each ice cube?** A: Each recess holds about 1/4 cup of liquid. **Q: When I pour water on the ice made from this mold, some white debries are floating on the surface. I tried several types of water and it alwayshappens.** A: It can be from hard water (calcium deposits) that settles onto the inside after several uses. It can also be from harsh detergent that settles. To resolve, soak them for 30 minutes in half hot water and half white vinegar. Immediately hand wash using a mild dish soap (Dawn liquid) and hand dry.
