The theory is simple. Pour your meat juices etc in and after a while the oil &fat will float to the top and form a separation. Once separated pull the handle trigger mechanism and the heavier fluid will come ot the bottom. I use mine when doing pulled pork in the smoker after the wrap and then I use the separated mixture of meat stock, apple juice and cherryade as a base for a sweet BBQ sauce. It’s easy to clean and you can easily flip the valve bar open to allow good flow through when washing. The two niggles I have are: 1. Very minor but you can’t remove the rubber bung valve part at the bottom of the jug to give it a very thorough soak when cleaning. 2. The strainer Lid doesn’t click in place and is quite loose. The amount of times I’ve dropped that part!!!
