This ine doesnt use a pci slot. **Q: Can you retain case power on button?** A: Yes, indeed, it is possible to use both the remote control and the case button to boot the pc. All you have to do is plug the remote power switch cable on the JFP1 front panel connector and on then plug the cases power switch cable on the extension of the remote's cable. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A little bit of knowledge is needed to fit this. *by S***G on 26 February 2020* My computer case is not within easy reach from where I sit. I was looking for a way to be able to turn it on and off without having to get up from my chair. Yes, I know that’s being lazy! I spotted this simple little remote on Amazon and it fitted my needs perfectly.Fitting such a device is not for the faint-hearted and you do need a little knowledge to successfully install it. You will also need a spare USB2 header socket on your motherboard. If you don’t know what that is, then this is not for you.You have to insert the module into an empty USB2 header socket. Then trace where your power and reset buttons on your case attach to your motherboard. Remove those leads and reattach them to the pins on the module’s lead. Then using the plugs on the said lead and plug them into the motherboard. Doing it this way means the buttons on your case will still work.Once this is done and you’ve put the supplied battery into the remote, you are ready to go. If everything is done correctly, pressing the buttons on the remote will now control your system power and reset buttons.The range that the remote works will vary on your case design. If it’s all metal, then the range will be a few feet only. If your case has an acrylic or glass panel on it, the range will be a lot better. My case has a small acrylic window and I can operate the remote anywhere in the room and it works.If you don’t have a spare USB2 header socket, then all might not be lost as long as you have at least one on your motherboard. If the device already plugged into USB2 header socket is only looking for power, then you can use the supplied adapter unit. The adapter only replicates the 5V power and not any data lines.Overall, a fairly simple idea that works well and is very handy in this remote-control world we live in. ### ⭐ Great device, horrible remote *by S***D on 28 January 2025* Installed and everything worked fine, however the remote was eating up batteries. Wouldn't last a week, even with premium batteries. Now the remote doesn't work at all so the item is pretty much useless. The website to contact customer support is all over the place, but sent a request anyway and got nothing. Don't waste your time. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent device! *by U***N on 2 January 2021* This little gadget is awesome! For most people it is something that they will not need but it is very cool to have. I found it very useful as at the present time I am not within arms reach of my PC so turning it on is as simple as using this remote (or resetting it as sometimes the case might be).Installing this was very easy. Just plug the device into a spare USB header on the motherboard. If you want it to face a different angle they include a splitter to do this (it should be noted that this is NOT meant as a splitter to allow multiple devices to be plugged into). From here, the Y cable included makes a quick job of installing. Plug the device cables for reset and power into the correct places and the cables from the front of the case into the Y cable and you'll be set.
