Wanna lie down and watch the screen.** A: I have a different brand, but same style. To use it while lying in bed, I shove the base between my mattress and the box spring (foundation). It works great for using my tablet while lying down. The limiting factor for using a tablet suspended above you horizontally is the reliability of the spring clamp that holds the device (and the weight of the device, naturally). I happen to have a spring clamp from an old stand that I trust, but I’d really worry about getting some teeth knocked out with some of the newer ones I see now. The one provided with this stand isn’t that great (shallow jaw, stick-on pads that look like they’d peel off easily). But the stabilizing screw at the top of the pole looks like a good feature that none of my other stands have, and I’m thinking of buying this set just for that.
