Do you need to remove them completely? New to cello tuning and never had this with issue with my violin!** A: For best results remove the peg and apply paste sparingly around the shaft of it, then wipe it around the shaft with a soft cloth to work it into the wood and remove any excess. Then tune up again. I find a little goes a long way. Make sure you’re applying some slight inward pressure on the peg while tuning up.
