Without it you might have the transmitter interrupted. Dexcom send them out for free but can take several weeks so I needed another source and got these. They are not as good as the official ones Dexcom supplies for free but worked when I was out and needed them. **Q: how many come in a pack** A: Depends on if you order the pack of 5 designs or individuals. **Q: What is the material that is used in this tape?** A: I believe it is fabric.
