Installation will depend on your car and if you have a camera already installed. It took me about 2 hours to remove the old wiring(obd2 powered) and replace it with the new wires (hard wired kit required). I don't like the idea of getting another app just to check the battery charge level. An lcd or lights should work fine. To indicate charge level.
