It is a wonder that so many music teachers sideline it when valuable points can be picked up. My daughter passed grade 1 & 2 piano with reasonable marks in the aural. In grade 3 she used this book, gained full marks in the aural tests which gave her the extra marks she needed to go from pass to distinction. The book and cd use the language of the examiner and give many examples to practice for each part of the aural test. They then tell you the correct answer (which is just as well as i would have no clue if they were right or wrong!). This book covers grades 1-3 so is a good investment. It is also relevant to the aural tests for all intrument and voice exams not just piano. You can get even more practice if you buy the 'specimen aural tests' book too. Review: A great help in preparing for exams - I have 2 children going in for ABRSM exams, and they needed to practise their Aural test skills. My piano playing is not all it might be (!) so the CDs are very helpful, and representative of the examiner's playing on the big day. It's reassuring to know they have practised each style of question. If they had difficulty with a particular question, there are quite a few versions of it, so we could go over them several times until they got the hang of it. I am a professional musician, so I know how important aural skills are in music, for creating a rounded, intuitive and useful player, whether in bands or orchestras. I would recommend using these practise questions. I got this and, although i haven't looked at it in detail yet, my son's piano teacher thinks its great! He has the Grade One book but is now going to buy this as well he says its much more helpful and breaks things down more, giving more detaila and practice in different areas.
