The top end is clear, and the mid is meaty- but where it really surprises is the bottom end or base frequencies. It seems to hold its own in a full 7 set surround series with a Yamaha DSP and a Technics (JBL) slave sub-base woofer.The overall sound is very coherent. You will need to adjust your room carefully, and as a little tip- make sure that you set the delay both on your pro-logic and your output device (such as a smart TV) because otherwise there will be too much echo caused by the out-of-phase signals. My Samsung TV sets at around 70ms - I don't know why this is, but I'm guessing that the sound is decoded faster than the picture. You will then need to choose your best DSP options, and mine works best in either Spectacle, Pop, or plain Dolbe. Do not listen to anything that anyone says about HDMI cables, it's mainly bunkum to get you to spend £50 on a gold cable! I'm using a 10 metre optical cable with no loss of signal whatsoever. The only signal losses are caused when the kids play the TV (and sound) from there Samsung Tablets. This is simply because the device (or screen) mirroring does not support full surround sound bandwidth. Massive upgrade on the flat panel KEF I had before but not the biggest of sounds.
