Used widely in home appliances, instrument, car accessory, etc. Review: Very nice. - These things are quite nice. They came in a strip of (presumably conductive) foam, so no bent pins and they all seem to work fine. At 5V (what most of us hobbyists are working with most of the time), they light up nice and bright even with a 330Ω resistor (although I'm pretty sure you could feasibly get away with a 180Ω and still not risk burning the thing out), and when I say bright I do mean quite bright, you will not have a hard time seeing these at all, even if your eyes aren't what they once were. These are larger, brigher, and seem overall nicer than the ones they carry at Radio Shack. If you're looking for red LED 7-segment numeric displays with decimal points, I have to recommend these. Review: Great displays - These are great little displays. The full manufacturer’s part number on the ones I received is 5161AS which apparently is the “super bright” version.
