I turned the cup upside down and cut around the outside using a garden trowel. Then I worked around that circle cutting through the turf until I was able to lift the disc of turf out of the ground. Then I dug down until I was about two inches deeper than the cup, built up the base of the hole so it sat straight and then used the trowel to pour loose soil down the gaps at the side.
