Since the 1960s these manual pumps have been designed, refined and manufactured by our skilled UK based workforce. Narrow mounting base allows installation for use between two sinks. We don't have the car set up full time for camping so wanted something that would sit atop a large water container but save having to haul the container out each time it was used. This fits the bill. My husband drilled a hole in the lid of the container and siliconed this in and it works perfectly. Water comes out either on up or down stroke. You can lock it off so that it doesn't pour water all over the floor when something accidentally gets draped over it. It did seem quite pricey but it is good quality and I am glad we got it. We've used too many of the 12v submersible pump types previously but inevitably every single one has failed after relatively little use leaving us stranded without a water supply. In contrast, this Whale tap is completely manual with a simple pump mechanism and almost incapable of failing and, as it doesn't rely on a 12v power source, it is completely reliable. Another benefit is that as one hand is required to pump it eg while rinsing the other hand rather than leaving it running as is the temptation with a powered tap, you are far less likely to waste water. Instead you use just the amount you need. It's simple to fit and connect and we dangle the water pipe into a 10 or 20 litre jerrican. It couldn't be a simpler arrangement but simple is also the best in this case. Highly recommended.
