I have no idea if that was the way to do it, but that's the way I decided I was going to proceed. Here's the result: Within less than two months all of my monthly menstrual pain stopped. Gone, gone, gone. In later years, when I started having kids, I stopped experiencing so much pain altogether. It can over-winter where I live in San Diego in warm protected areas so I have grown some for fun but not enough for all that I use. It is very popular here and all over the world. I like to add grated fresh ginger, cinnamon and a bit of citrus juice like lemon, lime, orange or tangerine.
