It's always a trade-off - I prefer thicker cables because they tend to be sturdier and last longer, but thinner ones of course don't tend to drag on the mouse-head as much. **Q: Does it really need battery’s?** A: No **Q: Does it scroll horizontally?** A: No it does not **Q: how does it feel ?** A: Though we have a few other brands, over the last few decades I've always tried to buy HP mice (for both work and home). But this one is disappointing. Called a "comfort" but frankly not as nice as one of their bog-standard old ps/2 business mice (such as model number 417441-002 of which I still have 3) or usb ones (674316-001). The buttons on the x1500 "comfort" model are somehow are over-sensitive AND over-loud (I've only ever known poor mice to be one or the other before now). And despite my extra-large male hands I find the two buttons a tad too wide. Action on screen is a tad jerky but frankly I've noticed this with all USB mice (corded and cordless) compared to the older PS/2 ones.
