It works excellently without any 'extra' tool. **Q: Does the lid close well please ?** A: The lid closes well enough. However, if it falls as you hold it it may come off, because the lid is a separate part that you place on top of the container part and does not have a separate mechanism to 'secure it' further. We have experienced no problem with it however.
