Why would you use these instead of a die set?** A: I have to order one of these because i am rethreadung the center of a bike crank assembly bar and the tap and die set is not wide/big enough to fit around the crank shaft where the threads are. If i had this i could just file the threads and be done with it. I may check back when i do so. **Q: Does each side have a different pitch** A: yes, 24 different pitches in all between metric and sae. handle is reversible, more pitches underneath it. MADE IN USA. great buy **Q: Can these be used for both external and internal threads?** A: It is designed for external threads. **Q: will it repair nut threads?** A: No. MIne would not even repair bolt threads.
