Product Description The Vic Firth 12" Double Sided Practice Pad is the perfect tool for practising your drums in private. The Double Side Practice Pad is comprised of a soft side and a hard rubber side. The double sided pad absorbs the sound from your stick, allowing you to practice rhythms in silence. Practice pads are great for playing drums at home, keeping volume levels to a minimum. The two sides provide two different sounds and feel when playing for added variation. Review: Excellent little practice pad - This pad is well made, good quality, and has good rebound and feel. If you're wanting to mount it on a stand just check the thread size is compatible, ours wasn't though that wasn't what I wanted it for. I wanted something of good quality and feel that was portable and not too noisy. Be aware that the actual playing surface is 14.5cm at the widest point. I don't find that a problem as it encourages accuracy, but it might be too small for some. It has a slip-resistant backing so sits pretty well on a table, not so good on top of a snare drum as it's light in weight and can bounce off! In summary, if you're looking for a small, portable, good quality practice pad you can shove in a bag and take anywhere this is ideal. If you want something closer to the size of a snare head or to sit on top of the snare for practice, or if the small size deters you for other reasons, you'd be better off with the larger size, which I expect is the same quality and feel.

**Q: Is this one better than the real feel pad?**
A: I have both and I think they are both great. The Vic firth has a little more bounce I think so it depends on what you want. I love both

**Q: Does it have a rim**
A: No sure what you mean by rim... the pad part of the drumming pad is bulged out just like any standard drumming pad.

**Q: What kind of a stand do I need? Can you lead me in the right direction of what type I need.**
A: A snare stand will work. You don't actually need any sort of stand. It can be placed on anything. If you like to sit and play, make sure you get a stand that will allow you to lower it low enough so you can sit and play comfortably. I don't know a ton about stands, sorry.

**Q: is the back side just meant to be louder, or does it serve some other purpose?**
A: One side is quieter than the other but it also is a softer playing service and simulates a lower tension surface like a tom. This way you can develop your chops!

great little pad, quite small so do not expect a big pad, pay attention to measurements stated. The material of the pad is great quality for bounce back. true to image and description. You cannot go wrong with Vic Firth! Perfect for practicing stick control and rudiments. I take it with me so I can practice at all times. Sometimes after a session on the kit in my studio room, when i am lounging about I still feel like I want to carry on, so i'll casually sit with my pad and paradiddle away, it's good to use at the comfort of your home with video tutorials when at times it is inappropriate to play on a loud kit/no access to a kit. Also handy to take away on holidays, to keep your playing fresh. Every drummer should own a practice pad. Recommended!
