Balderdash! it's perfect for any self-respecting adult. The bag is on the large size in terms of how much it will hold, but it is also light and not at all bulky. I was worried about the padded shoulder strap being too big, and it is bigger than no padding at all, but it's solid when you sling it over your shoulder and not bulky. When it is full and you wear it like a backpack, the strap makes it sit comfortably and snugly on your shoulders and seems to help distribute the weight. I use this as a purse because I have so much to carry and was tired of juggling two or three heavy bags. My 15 1/2" laptop fits along with a change of clothes, my work paperwork, all the regular purse stuff; it keeps expanding to fit everything you need. The best part is the print; the colors are bright, and the pattern is an updated version of funky and artistic and utilitarian and pretty. It has just one big, open space inside that could expand to hold the contents of a grocery bag, so you're not getting separate inside pockets, but the front zipper pocket is larger than normal and has a smaller flat pocket inside where I put lipstick and earrings and delicate stuff. Despite its hunky ability to carry the Oxford English Dictionary, running shoes, sweats, notebook, lunch, pajamas, a bottle of wine and your bathing suit comfortably, it looks great and gives you the confidence that finally, everything is going to fit quickly without having to play purse Tetris to cram it all in . The surface is sort of water-repellant but not at all plastic; the bag would be great in place of a purse on a plane flight. Jury's out on the Durability *by B***H on Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2014* I bought this backpack for my 9 year old daughter. She really likes the color. It is neon peachy. She is very happy with this particular color and the variety of colors is one reason we selected this brand. She likes that it is lightweight and easy to carry. How I see it: It is roomy - even a little tall for just books and binders, though I hear taller packs are better for kids backs. The interior has no lining and no extra pockets or places to tuck things away. The same for the exterior pocket (it does have a couple of slots to store pencils). I noticed that the fabric is a little see through, too. It's a lightweight, synthetic canvas. The fabric and straps are lightweight. The zipper is plastic, the pulls are generously sized and metal - seem reasonably durable. The main opening has two pulls (one from each side). Because it has no liner nor a higher density fabric base and the fabric is lightweight I am concerned about its durability. I had a JanSport backpack way back when I was in high school and college and after many years of carrying heavy text books, I only had to repair it once, so I already had trust for the JanSport brand. This backpack has held up nicely over the last 8 months with NO signs of the straps' sewing coming loose at the top. It is also quite roomy and she stuffs it to the max! Fits a lunchbox, a couple of books, notebooks, gym clothes, etc. My daughter has been very happy with it. She chose the style and this particular one hides dirt quite well. Still looks new. She will be using it again for 7th grade and will continue to use it if it continues to hold up this well. It also came with a tag that said it has a lifetime warranty, which is a big plus. Zipper works smoothly and doesn't show any signs of binding or getting stuck.
