I have tried tightening it to give more support, but I can't seem to make it any more effective on the part of the ankle that matters. It will do for a light support, but don't expect anything great, it feels too soft. I had to look here for instructions for putting on as nothing on the product about it at all. Had to wear with socks in the end but hey, better than not walking.
