It was a real labour of love to get them back looking great but this tool really helped cut down the workload as I removed many layers of old hard wax oil, dirt and grime. Without it I would have given up. £20 quid seemed a lot for a scraper to me but I gave it a go and I think it is worth its weight in gold. Lovely soft grips made it easier to use snd out a bit of elbow grease in without causing callouses. Love this little tool. It has pride of place hanging up in my shed. Whats the reach on this baby?** A: 90mm full handed grip, 130mm if you grip the end **Q: Do I have to use liquid paint stripper first** A: You don’t have to use stripper first - if you do you must let the wood dry really thoroughly or the scraper won’t work properly and will snag the grain. If you do use stripper and wire wool you will clear old paint our of the grain and may get a cleaner surface quicker but the grain will be raised - depends what sort of finish you’re trying to achieve. The scraper is an excellent tool to get a perfectly smooth surface. **Q: I need to stripe off old paint from 120years old stair case spindles ?** A: This scraper is ideal for stripping paint off wood. Not sure how much room you have between the spindles. It could be tricky in tight gaps. Not ideal for curved/shaped areas as well.
