Unfortunately, it looks like the carpet grippers were last replaced around the time the dinosaurs roamed the earth and so they needed to come out too. We have a crowbar but it was way too big to get under the wooden strips which appeared to be welded to the floor. I'm a disabled woman with not a lot of strength so I knew I had to buy something that would make my job easier. I did a lot of research and decided to give this a go and I'm so glad I did. It's still a tough job but it became 90% easier than using the big crowbar. I used the old crowbar as a fulcrum to give myself a little extra strength and it worked really well. I also found that it removes the old tacks stuck in the floor like butter. I had been using my claw hammer, but this worked so much better. It's made very well with no unexpected sharp edges and it's nice and easy to hold.
